PURPOSE Perform quality control tests for the specific product lines in accordance with established local and national standards. This position will be required to conduct quality control tests within the precision standards established by ASTM, NYSDOT, and AASHTO. The Quality Control Technician should be able to perform all required aggregate and asphalt tests for physical properties determination (specific gravities, absorption, asphalt ignition testing) as well as conduct in depth problem solving, detailed data and trend analysis, and troubleshooting associated with aggregate and asphalt material performance. This position also assists the Material Performance Manager of the product line in the implementation of best practices and techniques, in regards to product quality and quality initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITILIES: Required Education: Two years of post-secondary technical education or equivalent in experience. Required Experience: A minimum of five years of experience as materials Q.C. Laboratory Technician preferred. Required Certifications: NYSDOT QC/QA Certifications. Additional Requirements: Understanding of NYSDOT specifications and test procedures for aggregates and asphalt. Complete understanding of ASTM specifications and test procedure for aggregates and asphalt. Availability and willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends to meet Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs over uneven ground for a distance of 300 ft This position requires as an essential function:
